Primary acquired sideroblastic anaemia: response to treatment with pyridoxal-5-phosphate.
A 72-year-old woman with primary sideroblastic anaemia showed no response to treatment with pyridoxine. When she was given pyridoxal-5-phosphate there was a prompt reticulocyte response and sustained symptomatic improvement with satisfactory control of the anaemia.
متن کاملAcquired sideroblastic anaemia associated with penicillamine therapy for rheumatoid arthritis.
Occupational exposure to various chemicals, including vinyl chloride, silica dust, epoxy resin, benzene, trichloroethylene, perchloroethylene, and other solvents, has been described as a potential provoking factor of systemic sclerosis (SSc) and scleroderma like disorders.' However, the precise contribution made by occupational environmental factors to the occurrence of scleroderma remains unkn...
متن کاملIdiopathic acquired sideroblastic anaemia transforming to acute myelosclerosis.
A case of idiopathic acquired sideroblastic anaemia transforming to acute myelofibrosis is reported. The appearance of atypical megakaryocytic proliferation in idiopathic acquired sideroblastic anaemia may presage the development of an acute myelofibrotic phase of this usually chronic disease.
متن کاملTransfer of pyridoxal 5'-phosphate from albumin-pyridoxal 5'-phosphate complex to apo-aspartate aminotransferase.
Pyridoxal 5•L-phosphate (PLP) is known to combine with bovine serum albumin to form a(1:1) complex which scarcely dissociates, even when subjected to intensive dialysis. When this complex was incubated with apo-aspartate aminotransferase (apoGOT) for an appropriate time and the preincubated mixture then submitted to the usual GOT assay, the appearance of GOT activity was obviously confirmed, in...
متن کاملBinding of pyridoxal 5-phosphate to cystathionase.
The binding of pyridoxal 5-phosphate to the apoprotein of the enzyme cystathionase from rat liver was investigated by two independent methods, absorption and fluorescence spectroscopy. The increase in absorbance at 525 nm associated with Schiff’s base formation was used to investigate the binding of pyridoxal-5-P at a protein concentration of 1 X 10e5 M. A model based on two classes of independ...
